A 46 year old patient came to our clinic for rehabilitation with severe pain and weakness in the waist and leg area. The patient had a posterior herniated disc at the level of the O5-IL1 lumbar vertebrae. The pain was severe and acute and despite strong medication given by the attending physician was unmanageable. In addition to the pain in the back and leg, the patient had severe discomfort in the groin area. He was unable to sit in a sitting position even for a few hours as during the night sleep was painful and the symptoms increased.Walking was slow and with great difficulty. Also the patient had severe instability during limited movement and could not walk for more than 2 minutes. Severe muscle weakness was noted and severe pain and burning sensations were observed in the leg.

Rehabilitation was completed after 10 sessions and innovative physiotherapy equipment and techniques were used on most of the spinal fossae. The result was shrinkage of the lumbar disc herniation and closure of the bony swelling that had developed in the lumbar vertebrae. Because of the discomfort and the long period of time with pain, the patient had made an appointment for surgery before starting his treatments.
